MAJOR KEY: The Power Of Yes
God invites Moses to accept the position as the one who will deliver the Hebrews from bondage. Long story short, Moses says "no". When Moses asks God who he is, he clearly declines God's offer. By asking God a question, he is challenging God about the task before him. Many times we remove ourselves from open doors before even walking through it. I am guilty of saying "NO" to opportunities almost subconsciously. I wanted to understand the power of YES, so I went back to the beginning. In the book of Genesis when God creates the world, with every step He says "It is good."
God says "It is good" during Creation a total of seven times. When God says this, he is agreeing with himself. In a way, God is saying "YES" to himself. We must act in this same way. We must agree with ourselves before moving forward with any in this life. This brings us back to our Major Key of Identity. Do you agree that you are the child of the living God? Do you agree that you are powerful beyond measure? The answer should be "YES", but we question (challenge) ourselves and say no. When opportunities are given to us our instinct should be to say "YES" out of potential, not "NO" out of fear.
Award winning TV producer Shonda Rhimes' book The Year of Yes opened my eyes to what I was keeping myself from. Throughout her memoir she describes the difficulties she faced while breaking out of her "NO" attitude. By saying YES to the challenge, she went on to have one of the most fulfilling years of her life. I 100% recommend that book to you all and encourage you to look opportunity in the eye, and say YES!
