Outfit of the Day

It was Saturday night! I'd got invited to a Fundraiser for Philippines relief hosted by my friend Tareak at the Flat Iron Hotel Penthouse in NYC. I wasn't planning on posting this up but I think its a great example of formal wear without looking like you're headed to the Oscars!  

 Speaking of the Oscars, Lupita and I wore the same color this weekend! (talk about an ego boost!) Pastel colors will definitely be trending this Spring/Summer season. Just because your dress code is formal, doesn't mean you've gotta go with your old prom dress. I'm wearing a knit top tucked into a gorgeous pleated skirt with an over-sized tote and transparent insert pumps by BCBG Generation. I adore this skirt with my whole heart. I love the billowing pleats, the midi-length, the beautiful texture - ugh it even has pockets! As over-sized as the skirt is, I think I got away with the large size and shape of this tote. And how lucky was I to find a sweater the exact same color!!? Because of the skirt and bag drawing so much attention, I kept any accessories as simple as possible with a black belt and pearled necklace.This entire outfit was brought to you by H&M.
