Millions March NYC 12/13/2014

Today the Millions March was held in New York City and Washington D.C. Reports have said that more than 70,000 protesters marched from Washington Square Park to Foley Square. We started at around 2pm and headed onto 5th Ave.

Parson's The New School supported the March by hanging this in their window. Students were in the window waving their fists and cheering us on.

Chants included were "Tell me what democracy looks like! This is what democracy looks like!"

It was nice to see how diverse our crowd was. Everyone around us were well aware of the privilege and disadvantages in our society. People of all ages, sizes, and colors were in attendance. People were in wheelchairs and I think I saw a cane. No one was exempt.

The protest halted for a few minutes to allow a die-in.

Police are not only killing our black men but our women as well. Women many times go unnoticed in this cause. I was glad that they kept their memories alive.

A protester explained to me that waving the American flag upside-down is a symbol of political unrest and distress.

Still trying to figure out how ol' girl got up there. She led a few chants while we were slowed down in Union Square.

We stopped at Foley Square and listened to words from a few protesters. I stayed at Foley Square for about an hour, and the flood of people never stopped. From there we walked to the Brooklyn Bridge where they blocked oncoming traffic and did not allow cars to head downtown.

THESE ARE ONLY A FEW OF THE NAMES LOST BY THE HANDS OF THE POLICE. LET US NEVER FORGET.
