How to get away with Murder...
Eight days ago, I sat here and typed an emotional response to the Grand Jury's decision not to indict Darren Wilson for the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Today the Grand Jury decided not to indict Daniel Pantaleo for the murder of Eric Garner in New York City. I'm not writing a lengthy response. The only thing I can say is that I am not surprised. It was less of a shock because I'm still hurt because Darren Wilson is free. Its like I've been numbed. Kind of how when somebody's done you wrong multiple times and you just eat it because you expected them to do you wrong. That's inhumane! To expect murders to be free is inhumane!
I cant even lie though. In my head I thought because New Yorkers "dont take no shit" the Grand Jury would've known better than to let Pantaleo go free. But nah. They don't care about location. East coast, Dirty South, Midwest, or West Coast, black lives are still deemed invaluable and a loss of life by the hands of a white police officer is not deemed punishable.
Again, I was not surprised by the GJ's decision. I just hope NYC is ready for whats coming. Because like I said, New Yorkers dont take no shit.
Be safe out here yall.
Love,
Evelyn
