No Buy November Challenge!

Fall is here, Halloween is over and its time to prepare our stomachs and pockets for the wave of food and Christmas carols! In the Fall, it seems like calendars jump from October 31, to December 25, to January 1. It's true there are only 55 days left in 2014, but in between those days there is much money to be spent! You don't want to be scraping pennies together or trying to calculate which credit cards to max out on December 24 looking for last minute gifts. That's why I decided to participate in the "No Buy November Challenge". By participating in the No Buy November Challenge I will not be purchasing a single thing that is not food, a metrocard, or any other necessities. The only catch is that my month wont end on November 30, but rather Friday, November 28 - Black Friday. This will be a hard month to swallow, being the fact that the H&M and Alexander Wang collaboration comes out tomorrow, and not to mention all the beautiful winter accessories, sweaters, boots and coats that will just have to stay on the rack and out of my closet...in November.

The purpose of this challenge is to save money in preparation for the crazy holiday shopping season, as well as put what I already have in my closet to good use! A lot of times I catch myself finding pieces I forgot I even owned! Especially when it comes to outerwear. I have a horrible habit of neglecting pieces from the previous year and continuously wondering why I have no space in my closet yet nothing to wear!

By recycling what's in my closet, I'll be able to see what I don't wear at all, and I can break my hoarding ways and give those "never worn" pieces away.

It's a great lesson in money management, self-control, and giving. Lets see how this goes!

Will you join me?
