What To Wear Wednesday: Graduation Day!!!
Its graduation season!! (Cue the confetti) First things first, CONGRATS GRADUATE! While some of you are graduating next month, many of you are graduating in the coming week! While graduations might be one of the happiest days in our lives, it's the hardest to dress for! If you're like me, you've waited last minute to find an outfit. But you're in luck! Here are a few tips you should keep in mind when putting something together to walk across that stage.
1. It's your Graduation Day, not girls night out.
Stay away from the mesh inserts, cut-outs, minis, and platform shoes. After the ceremony you'll be surrounded by your family, your college friends, and their families. You have to dress conservatively. You'll be taking lots of photos, doing a lot of introducing, and hugging. The last thing you want to be dealing with is buckling ankles and side eyes because your skirt hem is rising a bit too high.
2. Your shoes must be as comfortable as possible.
I know there's a lot of pressure when it comes to your graduation shoes. After all, once you put your gown on, all we'll see are your shoes! I understand you want a great pair of shoes. Buttt you've got to remember: they'll be lots of standing, sitting down, walking, standing, waiting, standing, posing...standing. Go with your comfy cute pumps, not your "only for photos" stilettos. Remember you've gotta walk across that stage! Its going to feel like the longest walk of your life. Make sure you can hold it down.
I put this outfit together following my tips as closely as possible. I went with a nude colored Midi Dress with a form flattering black lace detail. Midi length never hurt nobody! You'll still be super cute and well dressed for the occasion. I was torn between a black or nude shoe, so I gave y'all two options. On your left "the nude side", I paired "ReaLove" strappy sandals by Steve Madden with lots of black and gold accessories: a pair of studded black and gold earrings, kitten watch, textured bracelet, and classic white nail polish. On the right side, "the black side" I put these patent leather pointed pumps together with pearl studded earrings, stainless steel watch, gold plated stretch bracelets, gold rings* and red nail polish.
Most importantly, you should be proud of yourself! You did it! All your hard work paid off! Wishing you a plethora of opportunities waiting for you after walk across that stage....
