Spring Cleaning!!!
Spring is finally here! We all have clothes from 2013 just sitting in our closets collecting dust because of this terrible Winter we've had. But its time to put away our North Face and pull out our blazers, bomber jackets and trench coats! It time to do some Spring cleaning because while 2013 was a great year for fashion and beauty, a few things have got to go! Out with the old, in with the new! Here is a list of the top 5 trends that I think should not be tried this season:
1. The Wedge Sneaker:
Don't get me wrong, I loved the wedge sneaker. It was a great excuse to be "sporty-fly". Isabel Marant debuted their signature sneaker and the response was explosive. Wedge sneakers were everywhere, on the shelves from every brand you could think of, from Jimmy Choo to Nike to Target. But as we all know, too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Wedge sneakers started having straps, spikes, glitter, Velcro, zippers, cushions, buckles, sequins.. all on the same shoe! These aren't poppin' anymore. Ladies its time to let those babies go!
2. The Stiletto Nail:
Rihanna began sporting these claw-like nails and like clockwork, they were on everyone's fingertips..including mine! It was a cool trend, it elongated your finger and it evolved into the Square-letto (narrow at the side, flat at the top). Now it's just not classy. Now that i think of it, it was hard for me to get used to.. and plus it was an extra 5 bucks at the nail salon! Leave it for Halloween ladies.
2a. 4 fingers one color, ring finger is another! Can we let that go please!!? No more glitter with the polka dots and rhinestones that will fall off after 3 days.
3. Ombre Hair/Mermaid Hair:
Yes everybody, this is me. Rocking my blue-green ombre hair extensions. It was really cool at the time and I really thought I was all that! Where was I going with no lip liner with that lipstick!? Anyway, Ombre hair was a beautiful trend last year whether it was ombre'd to blonde or in my case, blue. This trend has run its course. Step away from the 40 Developer and leave your bundles alone!
4. Hi-Low Skirts/Dresses
I never liked these and I don't think I ever will. Is it a mini skirt or a maxi skirt? Am I hot or cold? Am I going to the prom or to a picnic? I think they were supposed to pull off the "casual/dressy" look, but I dont think these should've been trending at all. Sell these, donate them, cut it into a top. But don't try to bring this back out.
5. Cheeky Short Shorts:
I know summertime is right around the corner, and everybody loves short shorts including myself, but there is no excuse for the booty meat to be out! Whether you're a bodacious beauty or a pretty skinny mini, nobody wants to see your cheeks! Just because it has belt loops, doesn't mean they're shorts! Some of you pay $40+ for denim panties! This is unacceptable. If the dark meat is showing (y'all know what I'm talking about!), they're too short!
The thing about trends is that they go just as quickly as they come, and some make their way back around - but in these cases....Lets leave the past in the past. Happy Spring cleaning!
Love,
Evelyn
