"Black Panther" Star Letitia Wright Quit Acting For Jesus Christ

Of course I'm still floating on the hype of Marvel's Black Panther film, which means I've been binge watching behind-the-scenes clips and cast interviews. So far, I learned Winston Duke aka M'Baku lived in my neighborhood as a kid, and Lupita N'yongo aka Nakia currently lives in Brooklyn. These facts further lead me to believe that I am truly a citizen of Wakanda.

It wasnt until a video dropped in my group chat that I learned Letitia Wright is a Christian! She shared her testimony with Premier Gospel Radio describing what it was like to be in the prime of her acting career and be asked to give it all up for God. She was fresh out of a womens retreat on her way to work with an Oscar winning director, Nicole Kidman, and Elle Fanning when the spirit of God came to her and said "I can give you more than that 'Tish, give up the job.". After a bit of natural resistance, she obeyed. Agencies in the UK and LA tried to offer her money to get her to stay but she remained firm in her decision. Check out the entire clip below:

I loved her testimony so much because I've been there before. When God sees your heart trailing away He will call you to come back. It's up to you to answer. Letitia's role with Nicole Kidman mightve been cool, but her role as Shuri has changed the narrative for young women of color everywhere. Black girls are smart, witty, charasmatic and can dominate STEM industries. God has a bigger plan for all of us if we bet on Him. Letitia's testimony is living proof that when you give up YOUR best for God, God gives you HIS best, like Black Panther.

I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you and bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.
