Can I Wear This To Church?
Last Sunday I attended the christening of my friend's beautiful baby girl Mia. The service was held at a local church in Brooklyn. Culture makes a huge impact on your wardrobe. At my traditional Haitian-American church, women are not allowed to wear pants to service. When I heard we'd be at an American Baptist church, a small part of me rejoiced because I could have more freedom with my outfit that day. Shopping for church looks can be a challenge. I've had to walk away from a few pieces just because I couldn't wear it to church. The AGONY!
I still wanted to go for the modest route though I'd be wearing pants. These culottes or cropped wide leg trousers were a gem; mainly because they were pants but still had a skirt feel to them. I wanted to avoid offending anyone at all costs because after all, church is church! These culottes from my neighborhood boutique Muffets, were a linen cotton blend so there was lots and lots twirling! I wore a ruffled sleeve Zara top, with color block pumps by Sam Edelman.
Are we feeling this look?
