5 Things You Can Start Doing Today to Love Yourself More

Sometimes us women need that reminder of the glory within us! Chelsea Satine of the Grandi Vit lifestyle blog put together a phenomenal event dedicated to self-love and womens empowerment. With food, meditation, massages, spoken word, henna artists, and vendors, we were bound to leave there better and stronger than before! There was also a panel of unique and engaging women ready to discuss self-love, mental health, travel and wellness with us. I had the wonderful privilege of moderating this panel of lovely women and their conversation poured into me in a very special way. It's only right that I share what I learned with all of you!

1. Teach Others How to Love You.

A person can call you a queen every waking moment, but sometimes you just need a hug. Everyone has their own love language. Gifts, Service, Affection, Affirmation and Time are your 5 primary love languages. What's yours? It's important for you to identify which ones you fall under. Let your loved one know what your preferences are. Communicating this with them will keep you happy and feeling valued in your relationships.

2. Learn to Say "No."

"No" is a complete sentence. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isnt. Your "No" doesn't require explanation. Sometimes us women feel like we must save the world. You must save YOUR world by speaking up for yourself. The world will always be there, but the world wont be the same without you living at your very best.

3. Breathe.

Do not overthink things. Be patient on your journey and trust the process. Let go of the perfections and expectations in your mind. Direct your anxieties towards God - your entire past present and future is in His hands. Remember Who's in control. Exhale.

4. Guard Your Heart.

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." - Proverbs 23:4

In reference to #2, trust your intuition. Guarding your heart takes much discipline. Sometimes we must guard our hearts from our thoughts and the things we see. How often have you checked if you got that text? Are you purposely looking for things that will upset you? The things we tell ourselves everyday become emotions while the things we see everyday manifest feelings - all of which are matters of the heart.

5. Tell Your Story.

We go through our experiences so that we may help build up someone else. Do not let shame or fear stop you from sharing who you are with the world. The love and light inside of you should manifest your love for others. You have not been made perfectly, wonderfully whole to remain idle. Someone's freedom lies in your testimony. Your story is not for you.
